URGENT NEED!

Restore Hope: Fire Recovery Fund

On the morning of September 12, a fire broke out next to the GUAOA orphanage in Goma, DRC. Smoke quickly engulfed the upper-level classroom where children and staff were gathered, making it difficult to see and breathe. In the panic to evacuate, several individuals sustained minor injuries.

Members of the surrounding community rushed in to help, breaking down the gates to reach the children and staff. Sadly, amid the confusion, some individuals took advantage of the emergency and looted the orphanage while attention was focused on everyone's safety.

Although we are incredibly grateful that the children’s living quarters were spared and the fire caused only minor structural damage to the classroom, many of the essentials they rely on every day were damaged or stolen, including mattresses, bedding, food, pots and pans, plates, chairs, computers, and sewing machines.

The children and staff are safe, but they now face an urgent need to replace these basic necessities.

Please help us restore what was lost and provide the children of GUAOA with the safe, stable environment they need to continue learning, growing, and building toward a brighter future.

About ICA

International Child Advancement (ICA) empowers orphans and underserved children to become self-sufficient through education, economic empowerment, food security, safe housing, and mentorship.

By addressing the barriers that limit opportunity, we equip children with the knowledge, practical skills, and support they need to achieve long-term success, strengthen their communities, and create lasting change for future generations.

Celebrating 10 Years

This year, International Child Advancement proudly celebrates 10 years of transforming lives through education, opportunity, and hope.

On July 18, we will commemorate this milestone during our 10 Years, 10 Stories Afternoon Tea Experience, where guests will gather to enjoy tea tastings, sandwiches, fresh fruit, and desserts while hearing inspiring stories that reflect the impact of our work in Buffalo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

While registration for this special event has closed, you can still be part of our 10-year celebration.
